The illusion of a ‘magic’ safety pin was needed in this shot, which floats in and pins a stage curtain. On the set an oversized pin was pulled out of a pre-existing hole in the curtain with a puppeteer’s rod. The shot was then reversed, the rod digitally removed, and then the final clasping of the pin was done through computer animation.
